Neal breathes softly on the window pane in front of him until the cold material is slightly fogged by the warm air from his lungs and presses his hand against it so that his finger tips are flush against the glass.
“Are you coming?” Elizabeth calls him softly from the kitchen doorway. “Dinner is ready.”
He smiles at her and wraps his arms around her middle. He hugs her and kisses her cheek.
Together they leave the living room; the hand print slowly fades from sight, invisible but still there, saying I was here, saying I belong, saying this is home.
