Title: What you need
Author:
veronicasleeps
Rating: PG-15
Characters/Pairings: Neal, Kate
Word Count: 250
Warnings/Spoilers: AU, adult themes (fleetingly mentioned)
Summary:Neal needs the money. He needs it badly, because he needs to pay rent and he needs
to buy food for himself and his little sister.
Notes: In which Neal does everything for Kate, even this.
+
The first time Neal dresses like a woman, he's seventeen, but his fake ID says he is twenty-one.
It's a gamble, but the salary advertised for in the paper has a shitload of zeroes attached to it, and Neal needs the money. He needs it badly, because he needs to pay rent and he needs
to buy food for himself and his little sister.
Kate watches him solemnly while he puts on the outfit; she watches him pull netted stockings over the forming underwear, and slide into the slinky dress.
"You don't have to do this." she says, but she takes the silver choker from the dresser and slides it around his his throat. It's heavy, and for a moment Neal can't breathe.
But that passes.
+
Neal is glad that he can't actually remember exactly what happened, it all flows together in a haze of sensation and impression.
Neal knows that he's been drugged, and he's thankful for it even the next morning when he's kneeling in front of the yellowed porcelain toilet in their shabby apartment and Kate is in the next room, TV turned up painfully loud so that she doesn't have to hear his heaving.
Still, he knows she will be there again, with him in the bedroom they share and help him dress. She'll say again that he doesn't have to do it, even though they both know that's a lie.
