Title: Catching Fire
Prompt: #002 Catch [livejournal.com profile] whitecollar100
Author: [personal profile] veronicasleeps
Rating: R
Characters/Pairings:Neal/Peter
Word count: 300
Summary: It's all about trust.
Contains: Bondage, Dub-con

Peter watches the wick of the candle catch fire. The bright flare, the first second that the candle burns, the slowly melting wax at the top, the gentle sway of the flame to the rhythm of his own breath; all these things, that normally are insignificant, threaten to overwhelm him now.

He holds himself as still as he can, takes only shallow breaths so the candle that Neal has placed on his chest isn’t disturbed.

“You don’t trust me, Peter.” Neal’s fingertips ghost over Peter’s forehead, and down the side of his face, feeling stubble and the clenching jaw muscles underneath Peter’s skin. “That is intolerable in our situation.”

From the edge of his jaw, Neal strokes his hands along the length of Peter’s throat, a slow pressure, that Peter realizes doesn’t feel threatening at all, and that does scare him a little. Neal’s hands don’t steal his breath, though; they just make him more aware of it, and in response make him draw more air into his lungs.

Up and down, the candle moves with his chest. Breathing in, breathing out, breathing in; Neal’s hands adapt the same rhythm that Peter’s entire world seems to have fallen prey to. They rub a knot out of his shoulder muscles, it is sweet agony that makes Peter groan, and they follow the expanse of skin up his arms until they meet the silk tie binding the wrists together. “I have to trust you, Peter. I don’t have a choice.”

Neal’s eyes aren’t blue in the candle light, but his gaze is still intense, is burning so hot that Peter almost thinks he himself might be catching fire from it. He is captivated, and he doesn’t look away, even when Neal reaches for the candle.

“Now you have to trust me, Peter.”

Title: Getting a Clue
Prompt: #001 Clue [livejournal.com profile] whitecollar100
Author: [personal profile] veronicasleeps
Rating: R
Characters/Pairings: Neal/Elizabeth(/Peter)
Word count: 200
Summary: Elizabeth is tired of waiting

+

“My husband desires you.” Elizabeth looks at Neal, at the way he shies away from looking her into the eye, and smiles. “And I know that it’s mutual.”

Behind them, in the Burke living room, Peter is preparing the table for dinner.

Neal suddenly feels incredibly uncomfortable. He has been aware of his attraction for quite some time; his fantasies starring Peter, and his cock, had been well used in his time spent in prison. Still he hadn’t dared to think of making them reality.

“I have a proposal for you,” Elizabeth touches her hand to his face, and pushes his head back, making him bare his throat in what reminds him almost of an animalistic submission gesture. “I want to see my husband fuck you, Neal. I want to see you spread out on our bed, and I want to see Peter enjoy every minute of it.”

He feels dizzy, suddenly. None of his usual confidence is in sight and just the pictures that Elizabeth’s suggestions conjure in his mind make him hard.

Elizabeth sees the tent in Neal’s trouser, and caresses it. “I’ve been giving you two clues left and right. But I decided I’ve waited long enough. “

Title: Growth in Reverse
Prompt:Evidence
Author: veronicasleeps
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Neal
Word count: 300.
Contains: Contains implies Spoilers for the season finale.
Summery: Neal thinks about past choices.
A/NSomebody advised me to do something different - I did.

Secrets hidden in between
wispy memories and half-forgotten fantasies
are enough to drive him away
when there’s nobody shielding him
from his own thoughts
and nobody leading him away
from the roads already walked
when he was eighteen/twenty/twenty-five.

He leaves New York on one of them
walks the path of his younger self backwards.
Thinks ‘Goodbye Peter, It was fun while it lasted’,
says ‘Hello world, you’ve got me back again!’.
And feels the promises he made in the last two years crumble
like ash where they still linger unforgotten on his tongue.

He follows the invisible evidence
of weeks/months/years spent redeeming himself
and watches his growth in reverse:

a law abiding citizen playing
by the rules set by
the one person able
to enforce them
turns step for step
into the convict
into the conman
into just the man
without a goal.

And he sees the possibilities
for the first time.

A thousand alternate universes press close to his life,
to this walkway of his choices,
and when he comes home a week later
(a roundtrip through memory lane,
from the end to the beginning to the end
in a circle that won't ever stop)
he sits on the bottom of a dry dock
so big.
But still not big enough that he couldn’t fill it
with postcards from his dream-travels
three times over.

And ponders and wonders
and thinks of what he could have done
different.

He comes up with a lot of maybe
and with a lot of could, but
not with any ‘should’
and he realizes then
that he wouldn’t be there,
in this moment,
in this place that was
the starting point of his journey
to retrace his past and to find his future
if it were any other way.

Drabble Series: Life (Was Supposed To Be...)
Pairing: Elizabeth/Peter
Rating: G
Summary: Elizabeth doesn’t look any different from this morning. She feels it though. As if the world has dropped from beneath her feet and left her floundering.

Theme: Mirror
Rating:PG-13

Elizabeth sags against the sink and watches herself in the mirror. She thinks the lines on her face should be deeper, icebound by shock, but she doesn’t look any different from this morning.

She feels it though. As if the world has dropped from beneath her feet and left her floundering.

“Are you okay?” Neal asks from behind her. Quiet. His reflection doesn’t meet her eyes.

“No,” she says, “No, I’m not okay.” She laughs, bitter. “I should have expected it, really. But…” She closes her eyes and forces herself to turn. “How long have you been fucking my husband?”

Theme: Minor
Rating: G
Spoilers: N/A
Warnings: N/A
Wordcount: 100

It hits her a week later, when she enters her white-cold hotel room. Elizabeth stands frozen in the middle of the doorway, her eyes trained on the copy of Kyle Minor’s ‘In the Devil’s Territory’ that she grabbed from their bookshelf at random when she was finished packing enough clothes to last her a while, and doesn’t move.

She can’t. Can’t move, can’t breathe; she’s here without Peter, without her husband because he’s with Neal, has been with Neal for months already, and it hurts so much she wants to cry.

She doesn’t, though. She just stands there.

Alone.

For a month it’s as if everything is packed in cotton wool. Not for safe-keeping, not for later use, but for putting it (the tears, the hurt, the anger) away in the attic of her mind and forgetting all about it until she’s ready to throw it out.

She goes to work and plays pretend with herself. Pretends she’s still Elizabeth of Elizabeth-and-Peter not Elizabeth-all-by-herself.

“Something is different about you,” a florist says one day, and Elizabeth thinks, by god, I can finally stop pretending, but then she keeps going, “is it your hair?”

Theme: Minute

The messages on her voicemail get shorter every day.

The first few were long and rambling apologies, “I can explain,” Peter had started every single one, “I didn’t mean for it to happen,” and Elizabeth couldn’t help but laugh because it was such a damn cliché and still so very Peter.

She just barely kept herself from bashing her mobile phone against the wall.
The latest one, forty-two days after she’s left their house in a hurry after walking in on Neal and her husband kissing, is just shy of a minute.

“I’m sorry,” it says. Over and over.

Theme: Middle
Rating: G
Spoilers: N/A
Warnings:N/A

“I don’t want to get divorced,” Peter looks miserable, like he hasn’t slept in weeks (but she doesn’t feel sorry for him), and genuine remorse practically radiates from him.

Elizabeth looks him straight in the eyes and nods at him to continue. She’s not going to make this easy for him. “I—” Peter hesitates, “I love you.”

Her mouth twists into a grimace. “It seems that love isn’t enough, sometimes,” she murmurs, “But I’ll think about it.” She puts down her cutlery, gets up and leaves the busy restaurant.

She can’t compromise on her marriage. It’s too important for that.

When I saw the 'Come to the Dark Side' challenge I felt the inexplicable urge to go for some old-school scifi.
I present two fanmixes about the 'light' and the 'dark' side of space travel with accompanying Star Trek pic spammage. (and a few Icons... but we all now I suck at Icons.)

Think of it as two sides of one coin (or two alternate realities maybe) one in where the crew isn't able to win against everything that's thrown into their path and one where they are.

If this were a fairy-tale, which it isn’t of course, because fairy-tales are unrealistic and really quite childish, this story would start with ‘Once upon a time there were two men, sitting in a restaurant.’ )
