Peter doesn’t tell him he loves him very often. But –once in a while- he’ll look at Neal, smile at him as if he can hardly believe that Neal is there, in bed with both Peter and his wife, and he’ll whisper it softly.
“I love you.”
So Neal plants a bug in their bed and records Peter’s words so that he can save them for when he’s alone, at June’s, where he plays it over and over again and pretends that this, this thing between him and Peter and Elizabeth will last forever.
Even though he doesn’t believe in happy endings anymore.
